Hedges
Hedges are important features for wildlife and landscape. Our hedge management has a variety of aims:
- rotational trimming to ensure there is a food supply for wintering birds and blossom for invertebrates
- coppicing to increase the density of hedge growth
- gapping up to increase the diversity of shrub and tree species
- creating green lanes to improve the connections between habitats
- laying hedges to contain stock and reduce the need for fences.
