Why we farm organically
We want to grow organically so we can:
grow crops that support a wider range of wildlife
than typical conventional crops (read about the
farm's wildlife...)
supply customers with produce that we are confident
does not contain agrochemical residues
grow crops in a way that relies less on fossil
fuels (e.g. by using natural fertilizers instead of artificial
nitrogen, and by using more manual labour)
grow crops that provide and fund more employment
on the land
manage our soils in a way that maintains them
in better health, in particular to increase organic matter levels
in the soil
learn lessons from organic growing that we
can apply on the rest of the farm
enable customers to source more of their organic
food locally
